Guest Post Submission Terms & Conditions

1. ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS

1.1 These Guest Post Submission Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to any article, photograph, image, graphic, video, audio, biography or other material submitted to The Polyglot’s Dream (“Website”) by a contributor (“Contributor”, “you” or “your”).

1.2 By submitting Content to us, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms.

1.3 If you submit Content on behalf of another person, company or organisation, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on their behalf.

2. ORIGINAL AND PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED CONTENT

2.1 We only accept original, previously unpublished Content.

2.2 By submitting Content, you represent and warrant that:

(a) the Content was created entirely by you;

(b) it has never previously been published, posted or publicly distributed, in whole or in a form that is substantially similar in structure and expression, in print or online;

(c) you have not simultaneously submitted the Content to another publication for consideration;

(d) you own the copyright and other rights necessary to submit the Content and grant the rights described in these Terms; and

(e) the Content does not contain material belonging to another person unless you have obtained the necessary permission or licence.

2.3 We do not accept republished, syndicated or substantially rewritten versions of previously published articles.

3. NO AI USE

3.1 Content submitted to us must be created entirely by the Contributor without the use of artificial intelligence or AI-assisted tools.

3.2 The Contributor must not use any generative AI, large language model, machine learning system or other AI-assisted tool in connection with the Content, including to:

(a) generate or draft any part of the Content;

(b) rewrite, paraphrase, expand, shorten, summarise or translate the Content;

(c) edit or improve grammar, spelling, style, tone, structure or readability;

(d) generate or modify headlines, captions, quotations, references, images, audio, video or other material forming part of the Content;

(e) conduct research, produce ideas or create an outline for the Content; or

(f) review, fact-check or otherwise assist in preparing the Content for submission.

3.3 The prohibition in this clause applies regardless of the extent of AI use and includes features that use AI within word-processing, editing, translation, search, research, design or content-creation software.

3.4 By submitting Content, you represent and warrant that no artificial intelligence or AI-assisted tool has been used in connection with the creation, research, preparation, editing or submission of the Content.

3.5 We may request information reasonably necessary to verify compliance with this clause. We may reject or remove Content where we reasonably believe this clause has not been complied with.

3.6 A breach of this clause is a material breach of these Terms.

4. ACCURACY, LEGALITY AND THIRD-PARTY RIGHTS

4.1 You represent and warrant that the Content:

(a) is accurate and truthful to the best of your knowledge;

(b) is not defamatory, misleading, fraudulent or unlawful;

(c) does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, confidentiality, moral rights or other third-party rights;

(d) complies with applicable laws and regulations; and

(e) does not contain material for which you have not obtained the necessary permission, licence, release or consent.

4.2 If we request evidence of ownership, permission, consent or licensing, you agree to provide it promptly.

5. EDITORIAL DISCRETION

5.1 Submission of Content does not guarantee publication.

5.2 We may, at our sole editorial discretion:

(a) accept or reject any submission;

(b) request changes before publication;

(c) make routine editorial changes, including correcting grammar, spelling, formatting, headlines, captions and presentation;

(d) remove links or references;

(e) delay publication; or

(f) remove previously published Content for legal, editorial, factual, technical or other legitimate reasons.

5.3 We will seek your approval before making any change that materially alters the meaning or substance of your Content, except where the change is required for legal compliance or urgent risk management.

5.4 We are not required to provide a reason for rejecting a submission.

6. COPYRIGHT AND LICENCE

6.1 You retain ownership of copyright in Content that you own.

6.2 By submitting Content, you grant The Polyglot’s Dream Pty Ltd a limited, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to reproduce and edit the Content solely for the purpose of assessing and preparing it for publication (“Assessment Licence”). The Assessment Licence does not authorise publication or distribution of the Content.

6.3 Upon acceptance of your Content for publication, the Assessment Licence is automatically replaced by a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to reproduce, publish, edit, adapt, communicate, distribute, display, promote, archive and republish the Content in connection with the Website and our publications, newsletters, social-media channels and marketing (“Publication Licence”).

6.4 The Publication Licence includes the right to make reasonable editorial adaptations, excerpts and formatting changes, subject to clause 5.3.

6.5 The Publication Licence survives removal of the Content from the Website, including for the purpose of maintaining archival copies and prior promotional uses.

6.6 You must not subsequently grant another party rights that would prevent us from exercising the rights granted under these Terms.

6.7 If you later publish, submit or license the Content, or a substantially similar version of it, for publication elsewhere, you must use reasonable efforts to ensure that the later publication acknowledges that the Content was first published by The Polyglot’s Dream at thepolyglotsdream.co.

6.8 The Publication Licence includes the right for The Polyglot’s Dream to monetise the Content through advertising, sponsorships, affiliate links, referrals, commissions and other commercial arrangements. All revenue arising from such monetisation belongs solely to The Polyglot’s Dream, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

7. MORAL RIGHTS

7.1 To the extent permitted by law, you consent to:

(a) reasonable editorial changes, formatting and adaptation of the Content;

(b) publication of the Content with attribution in the form agreed at the time of acceptance; and

(c) combination of the Content with other material where reasonably necessary for publication.

7.2 We will attribute the Content to you in the form agreed at the time of acceptance. We may omit or modify attribution only where technically necessary, where you have requested it, or where required by law.

7.3 Nothing in these Terms requires you to waive a right that cannot legally be waived.

8. LINKS AND PROMOTIONAL CONTENT

8.1 External links included in a submission are subject to our approval.

8.2 We may remove, modify or decline to publish any link.

8.3 Links must be relevant to the Content and must not be misleading, unlawful, malicious or primarily intended to manipulate search-engine rankings.

8.4 We may reject submissions that are primarily intended to promote a business, product, service or website or obtain backlinks.

8.5 Any sponsorship, payment, commercial relationship or other material connection relating to the Content must be disclosed before publication.

9. PAYMENT

9.1 Guest submissions accepted and published by The Polyglot’s Dream are paid at the rate specified in our Submission Guidelines in effect at the time the submission is accepted.

9.2 We will confirm the applicable payment rate and currency in our acceptance communication.

9.3 Payment is due within 30 days after publication of the Content, provided the Contributor has supplied the payment information required under clause 9.4.

9.4 To receive payment, the Contributor must provide any information reasonably required by us to process the payment, including bank account or payment platform details.

9.5 The payment confirmed under clause 9.2 constitutes the Contributor’s full compensation for the submission and the rights granted under these Terms. No additional royalty, licence fee, commission or other payment is payable unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

9.6 If Content is removed after publication, this does not affect the Contributor’s entitlement to payment for Content that has already been published, except where payment was obtained through fraud or material misrepresentation.

10. CONTRIBUTOR INDEMNITY

10.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Polyglot’s Dream Pty Ltd, its owners, directors, officers, employees, contractors, editors, agents, affiliates and publishing partners against claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and reasonable legal expenses arising directly from:

(f) a third-party claim arising directly from the Content as originally submitted by you or from your act or omission in connection with the submission.

10.2 The indemnity in clause 10.1 does not apply to the extent that the relevant loss or claim:

(a) was caused or contributed to by our own negligence, breach of these Terms, unlawful conduct or unauthorised modification of the Content; or

(b) cannot lawfully be imposed under applicable law.

10.3 This indemnity survives publication or removal of the Content.

11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

11.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Polyglot’s Dream Pty Ltd is not liable to you for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from or relating to:

(a) rejection of your Content;

12. REMOVAL AND CORRECTIONS

12.1 We may remove, amend, update or correct published Content where we consider it reasonably necessary for legal, editorial, factual, technical or other legitimate reasons.

12.2 If you become aware of a material factual error or legal or rights issue concerning Content you submitted, you agree to notify us promptly.

13. PRIVACY

13.1 We may collect and use personal information provided in connection with your submission for purposes including assessing, editing, publishing and administering your contribution and communicating with you.

13.2 Personal information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

14. NO EMPLOYMENT OR AGENCY RELATIONSHIP

14.1 Submitting Content does not create an employment, partnership, joint venture, agency or other similar relationship between you and The Polyglot’s Dream Pty Ltd.

14.2 You must not represent yourself as an employee, agent or authorised representative of the Website unless we have expressly authorised you to do so.

15. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

15.1 We may amend these Terms from time to time.

15.2 The version in effect when you submit Content will generally apply to that submission unless we separately agree otherwise in writing.

15.3 Any future submission will be subject to the version of these Terms then in effect.

16. SEVERABILITY

16.1 If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, it will be read down or severed to the extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

17. GOVERNING LAW

17.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia.

17.2 You and The Polyglot’s Dream Pty Ltd submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Australia, Australia, and courts competent to hear appeals from them.

18. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

18.1 These Terms, together with any separate written agreement expressly entered into between you and us concerning your Content, constitute the agreement governing your submission and our use of the Content.

18.2 If there is an inconsistency between these Terms and a later written agreement specifically concerning your Content, the later written agreement prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.
